I'm always 'down' for a good fart!

For those of you who know me, my subject choice is a very scary title, but if you want to know what I mean this time, click HERE and check the list out.

I definately have a 'sable' but am always up for a 'fart' but so far I haven't made many 'wombats' how about you???  Which of the acronyms can you relate to?  Or do you have some to share that aren't on that list?  I'd love to see them

Talking of acronyms...in one of the groups I'm in, one of the lovely 'mature' quilters said she'd just found out what "WTF?" stood for, and was mortified....for ages she'd been using it....thinking it stood for "WOW, that's fantastic" lmao....I can imagine the face of her grandchildren on showing her their latest school project, and her happily exclaiming "WTF" lol

On that note, I'm outta here for now, but before I do, here's a cute owl project that you can make for yourself, Carla at The Scientific Seamstress shares a pdf download for how to make them.  I'm going to make some up...and they'll be available for purchase if you can't sew, don't have the time or can't be bothered making them yourself....keep 'em peeled for the link to when my new online shop is officially launched.  Click on the photo below to go grab the pdf from Carla's blog.

Owly purchases

Hi again, remember yesterday I mentioned some owly purchases I made....well I said I'd share pics of them with you, and here I am, actually carrying through with that promise (ok, so I actually wrote the post yesterday and scheduled it to post automatically...but that's cool to do right?  I call it being constructive with my time management!)

An owl pop up laundry hamper, but I'm going to use it for the larger scraps/offcuts in my sewing area.....then when it's full, I'll take a break from sewing, get out the Go Baby! and have a blast filling up my containers below!
Owl containers....even the lids have owls on them....gonna get me a few more of these hopefully....this size is perfect for those times when I try and get organised, and I'll keep scraps in them, but not just any scraps...these'll be in sizes, such as 3" squares etc....wish me luck!

Have a look at the cute hooks for the shower curtain...cute huh?  It's all so bright and cheerful, and the plus side was all the above cost $30 which isn't bad if you say it quick enough lol  I got all the above items from The Reject Shop.

F-R-I-E-N-D-S Swap 2012 gifts & another pressie

I finally got to open my F-R-I-E-N-D-S swap gifts from Cheryll today....I'd held off opening them, until she got back from her road trip and opened hers too......as you can see above, I got quite a little pile of goodies to un-wrap, so thanks heaps Chez, I love it all to bits......wait till you all see what I got to open them up and reveal.
They sort of go top row left to right and then bottom row left to right....and here's a heads up for what each were:
F Festive hearts from felt
R Receptacle for Rubbish Bags
I Interesting fabric (hoot hoot!) and Insert your pins (hidden inside the fabric)
E Essentials for craft = tweezers/tape measure/knitting gadgets/scissor fob with an owl on it/flowers
N Novelty items = owl cards/gift wrap/ notepaper and envelopes (purple of course!)/notepad cover  and
         and owl magnet
D Delicious chocolate to eat (and oh boy, are they ever YUM) and Drinking chocolate to enjoy
S Star hangers and sockettes

There was also a keyring (in the pic just to the right of the choccies) with NV (my initials lol) loves to and a pic of a sewing machine on it, how cool is that hey????

Cheryll and I are also in a forum together, and they had a Christmas in July swap, which we both signed up for, but because Cheryll hadn't made the minimum amount of posts by the sign up date, she was ineligible....and not wanting her to miss out, I contacted her to see if she wanted to do a one on one swap with me....mind you, at this stage, neither of us knew exactly who we were lol  Once we twigged though, it made it even more fun...and we decided to delay our Xmas in July swap to combine it with our F-R-I-E-N-D-S swap to save on postage.

If you'd like to see what she sent me, just click HERE....as for what I sent her, I will have to wait for her to put posts up, as I forgot to take pics!  How cool was my pressie though....a table runner that is perfect for my kitchen table....it's a goldilocks one, not too long, not too small, it's just right in other words....thanks heaps hun, I love it.....and it's purple, who wouldn't like it? lol

As for what I sent her for her Friends goodies, I'll just go have a look to see if I can find the pics!  Talk amongst yourselves while I'm gone!  Well that was a waste of time, I have pics of the individual pressies, but not of them as a whole, so maybe you'll just have to stalk her blog for her pics of it lol  I did however find the Christmas in July pressies I sent her, which was a Candle Mat (that fits her coffee table perfectly), an owl thimble and a notebook folder thingy!

No, she didn't get all the background 'junk' lol

Lastly, my next door neighbours, Wayne and Sharina went to Murray Bridge yesterday and happened to bring me back a pressie....check it out.....isn't it just gorgeous?  See no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil owls.....see, Sharina refers to me as "The Evil One" so it's quite a fitting present for me hey?

Just look at the speak no evil one....and how it's winking at me!

Edited today, to add the links to Cherylls post about the FRIENDS gifts I sent her.

Owl Placemat set

One of my 'owlie' customers, Pauline (no blog), put in a request for some owl placemats....with some green fabric on them. The pictures below, are what I came up with for her...she was rapt with them.....Now she wants a table cloth....lol Am starting to wonder whether I should buy extra owl fabric, just in case she wants curtains for her dine-in kitchen next...lol

The small dark green squares in the middle of the above pic, are the matching coasters for the placemat set. Just a little side not for anyone new to patchworking.....if you're thinking of making relatively small coasters and binding them, DON'T lol....they are sooooo fiddly, well the square ones were, I've made some hexagon ones and they weren't so fiddly, but then again they aren't done with binding strips either....maybe I should've constructed these using the same technique....hmmmm food for thought, but I think in future, I'll be making the more 'normal' (easier) coasters...hee hee hee.

This is a close up of one of the placemats (well derr!) and I think I even managed to pick one that all lined up for the magnified view...lol

The bottom pic shows the fabric I used for backing....it's got a slight flannel feel to it so I thought it would be good to stop the placemats and coasters sliding about too much if Pauline doesn't use a table cloth (but I now know she does!)

A belated...I won I won I won!

A wee while back, I was fortunate enough to be drawn as one of the winners on Terri's (of Sew Fantastic fame) great 12 Days of Christmas giveaway. To see a list of all the winners, including me, click on the title link. Star Primm gave me an option on my win, to either pick a print from her Etsy shop, or I could have a copy of her "Oliver the Owl" pattern....well it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out which I'd pick hey? lol A big thank you to Terri and Star for a great giveaway.

I would've blogged about this sooner, but I really wanted to make an owl up for Khristina for Christmas, and wanted it to be a surprise......so that's why I'm only just blogging about my win now!

Yesterday, although we had a little bit of confusion about why Khris was visiting me, we got there in the end, and I'd made the owl for her in the morning.....so it would be ready for when she got here....I was a bit concerned about her liking the owl.....seens as though Raelenes face lit up when I first showed it to her, and then she decided she didn't like the wing fabric choice I'd made, but I was fairly confident (ok, more like hopeful..lmao) that Khris would like it.

I was right, she loved it, or at least that's what she said when she unwrapped it. Here's a couple of pics of the completed owl, and also a gratuitous shot of Khris holding her new parliament member....tee hee hee....see Khris, I don't need to make you another one, you already have a parliament *grins*

Just edited to change the pic of Khris.....she photoshopped my pic, so I've now got one that she's happier with!
