How to number your blog comments

I have been searching for a tutorial on how to do this, that was not only simple, but worked, and today, I have found one....and YAY it worked...click here to go to the tutorial on how to do it....I know Melissa was looking for one a while back, but this is the simplest to follow, it must be, I did it, and it's working.

Smurf bag all done

Raelenes' youngest daughter (Ms 20 yr old) wanted a Smurf bag to replace the last bag Raelene made her, and as we couldn't find any smurf fabric (that wasn't ridiculously priced that is), we had to rely on applique.....the bag was a joint effort....Raelene made the bag, and I did the applique...on one side it has a smurf and on the other, it has smurfette....as you can see from the above pics.....the fabric scraps I used for the smurfs, weren't fully compatible with the fabric used for the bag....BUT it passes the one metre rule (ie you can't see any faults with it from a metre away....lol) and as this is a truly unique bag, Amanda should love it.....fingers crossed....and here's hoping she doesn't lose this bag.

I'm a good egg....lol

Sandi from A Legacy of Stitches, is hosting a great giveaway for spring....and I signed up.....it runs from March 24th - March 28th, 2010.  It's shaping up to be a fun blog-hop with some great giveaways, but more importantly, it's giving you the opportunity to meet and greet with other fantastic bloggers that you might not normally have the chance to meet.

Yes, I know, "stop rambling and tell us what you're going to give us the opportunity to win Naomi".....well, you're just gonna have to wait, coz this isn't my official post announcing it, it's only a sneak preview....check back on March 23rd when I'll announce what I'm giving away......and I'm happy to ship internationally, so anyone can leave a comment and be in the draw.

I look forward to hearing from everyone and wish you all luck with this great giveaway.

Some of my more vigilant readers may have noticed that the Good Egg giveaway button has appeared on my sidebar, but is inactive....that's only until the giveaway starts....then I'll activate it for you....be patient my lovelies.....for it is a virtue!

Please help Dawn with her quest to sell 1000 patterns

Dawn is on a quest to sell 1000 patterns for a great bag, which is called the 'Baseco Mahal Kita' Tote bag. The pattern is only $4....which most people will happily pay more than that for a drink, and you'd be amazed at what your $4 will buy in Baseco.....1000 patterns is:

10 new homes or

medicine for 1000 children.
Or Emegency relief kits, or Emergency medical kits...
the list goes on.

I've bought mine, when will you buy yours? She has links on her site to purchase it either via Paypal or Etsy.

If you happen to purchase it before March 27th, the Gum Tree Designers are having a giveaway to help boost the sales......who wouldn't want to win some free fabric to make one of these gorgeous bags up with? I know I wouldn't say no.

I do hope you head on over to Dawns blog to purchase a pattern.

The zebra quilt revisited - sorry but I couldn't resist

How could I resist popping this pic up on the blog.....isn't Olivia gorgeous? So calm and relaxed on the quilt I made for her! I spoke to her mum last night on Facebook and she gave me permission to post the pic of her little angel on here......gotta claim those bragging rights don't I? Jodie (Olivia's mum) is so appreciative of the quilt, which is always a good thing.....hate it when you spend hours making things and the recipient never uses it, but it's not the case this time for sure.

Am off to Khris's again today....but not doing quilting......am working on a couple of stitcheries for a couple of projects you're gonna just have to wait and see what I end up making....lol

Hugs and happy crafting

Disappearing 4 Patch blocks

Yesterday, my friend from Qld, Diana, sent thru a link to the C-R-A-F-T group for a Disappearing 4 patch....as I enjoy doing the Disappearing 9 patch, I just had to give this one a try....and above is the outcome.....the top one was done as per the tutorial, and the bottom one, I just did slightly wider cuts from the centre line. This is a very easy tutorial and can be found by clicking here.

Send me your link if you make any, so I can see what other colours look good together.

Yippee Adelaide's getting a Machine Quilting Festival....hurrah

October 1st - October 4th 2010 is when.....the sad thing is, I might not be able to make it, as I might be going away that weekend, but I'd so love to attend this, as it's sooooo close to home....in fact only a stone's throw away from where Khristina lives at Mawson Lakes, Sth Australia......might see if we can organise at least one visit there whilst it's on.

For those of you who live close enough to attend, I suggest marking it in your calendar, as I get the feeling if it's not supported, we'll lose it.

There's some great vendors going to be there and a quilt show....oooh a chance to look at all the pretty quilts.

I'm hoping to get there...maybe we can all meet up and see some of the quilts....I'm really interested in seeing some of the machines too......might win lotto one day, and will be better informed as to which machine I want to buy if I see them first!

Click on the AMQF logo above to visit the AMQ website.

Pincushions I made at Khris's & another table runner

Just thought I'd share pics of the Coffee table runner Raelene pieced, and I quilted and bound! Love the colour combo's on it...they look great together hey? I had 'issues' with the corners on this one for some reason...don't ask me what, I'm new to this binding thing....lol I'm not sure if I'm sewing too far, or not far enough up to the folded over bits when I do the machine sewing part...who knows....will have to just keep practicing hey?

Whilst Raelene was making the runner, I wasn't just sitting around idle...for a change...lol I was at Khristina's trying out making Cathedral Window pincushions....above are the two I made.....if you click here, you can see the four that Khris made...yes she had to make some the same colour as mine! lol Never can let me have something 'unique' lmao Her first two were light green, and the second two were the same brown I used on mine...except she went hooty on the last one, and popped an owl in it.....hoot hoot....it must be for me! By the way, this all took place yesterday.

My 1st quilted Table Runner

Well, here it is, warts 'n' all......it's for a friends birthday present, so Natalie, don't look at the pics! I've included the back shot so you can actually see I did some quilting on it....if you happen to look closely/or can see it that good, there's some missing sections in the quilting...that's where I skipped the daisies with the stitch in the ditch......the runner is supposed to be one more heart block long (according to the instructions) but somehow I mussed up and made the heart around the wrong way with the dark/light combo so it would've had 2 dark or 2 light background colours together if I'd added it, and I didn't feel like undoing it, so I guess that block will become a matching potholder....lol

I don't think I did too bad with my first un-aided effort at patchworking/quilting, and will be making more runners for sure....it was fun to do.

Owl Blocks I've finished for the Pins & Needles Swap

There they are in all their glory peoples....that's as good as my quilting/patchworking abilities will do for now......I plan to practice alot more in the coming years, as whilst these are 'okay', they're not brilliant and that's what I aim to achieve...eventually. Click on the collage photo above to make the image bigger.

I've had alot of fun making them.....matching up colours (did I do ok do you think?) and trying to get those pesky seams on the 9 patch's to line up!

The following is the first one I made, but I wasn't sure I wanted to make all of them with those eyes, so adapted the pattern and made the half asleep eyes instead....this one is for the hostess, so she had something a little different!

Naomi
