As some of you may or may not know, we're more than likely (very probable actually) having to move to another house within the next month or so, and as much as I have OCD about getting rid of my 'precious belongings' or crap if it's not me describing it! So yesterday, I went through a few boxes and in one of them, I found my meager (is it just me, or does that look like spell check has given me a bum steer? lol) thimble collection....yeah yeah, 7 isn't really an amazing collection, however, my mum bought me them about 25 - 30 years ago, so they do have a wee bit of sentimental value.....BUT I do need to downsize, and whilst they don't make much room....they'll make some!
So, if you'd like the above pictured thimbles....please leave a comment before 31st May 2010 (Australia time) and I will draw the winning name on June 1st, via the random number generator, and you could be the lucky recipient of all 7 thimbles.
If you have any problems leaving a comment on my blog, please email me by clicking here, and I'll leave a comment on your behalf. Please only leave one comment and make sure I have some way of contacting you.....ie no anonymous commenters. Leaving a comment is the only requirement.
A big thanks to Tawny, for pointing out that I didn't mention whether I'll ship internationally with this giveaway.....the answer is, drum roll please Maestro....... Y - E - S ...as long as you have a postal service that can deliver them, I'm happy to send them where ever it is that the winner lives.
Also, whilst it's not a requirement of the giveaway, please feel free to let your friends and followers know about the giveaway....the more the merrier I say....but maybe you'd prefer to keep them in the dark, and narrow down the odds of you winning huh? lol
Good luck and thanks for entering
Hugs
Naomi

Hi,
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty thimbles. It is a shame you have to get rid of them. I only have a couple that belonged to my Mom.

ReplyDeleteI love these thimbles, are you sure you don't want to keep them yourself? The thimble with the oldfashioned dancing people, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Anita
They are lovely - but thimbles are happily one of those things I do NOT collect! So, don't enter me in the drawing :)
ReplyDeleteActually, I suppose that's not *exactly* true - I have a small "collection" of thimbles I've bought trying to find one that would make me actually use one, but haven't. But no decorative thimbles for me.
Hello! I have too a thimble collection, voila:

ReplyDeleteThimbles are not only lovely to look at but they are
a part of sewing history. They represent generations
of women who were dedicated to making lovely items
for their family and friends - items we now consider
heirloom and treasure.
Thanks

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely thimbles. Downsizing can be a drag. Sorry you must get rid of them, but it is thoughtful of you to give them away to someone who will love them.
ReplyDeleteLovely thimbles
ReplyDeleteYour thimble collection is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteHate to think you are down-sizing . . .
I have a very hard time parting with anything.
Would truly treasure your thimbles.
Hugs & ♥♥♥s,
Gerry
Awwww, Naomi, you're gonna make me cry! Don't put me in the draw because they should go to someone who will really, really treasure them if they can't stay with you and I don't collect thimbles. My heart goes out to you, hun, with all the work ahead. Make sure when you find another house that it has room for me to come see you! I have got to get over there to see my Aussie friends!
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet (& maybe a little nuts!) to give up your beautiful thimbles, but I thank you.
ReplyDeleteI don’t really collect thimbles. I think they just multiply when I’m not looking!
Now my BFF is nearly fanatical about collecting them and has a bunch & I don’t think she’d give one up for anything.
Shari
I have recently started collecting thimbles, and I would love to add these 7. They will make a special addition to someone's collection as they have a story behind them.

Gorgeous thimbles, you are braver than me to part with them :)
ReplyDelete(soozemoroney@gmail.com)
What a beautiful collection of thimbles. They would find a loving home here. I do collect thimbles and have a very nice collection from my travels to England. When I travel to Australia, some day in the future, I planned to pick up a few thimbles during my travels. I do hope you pick me and, if not, congratulations to the lucky person you do draw the name for. You have a lovely site by the way. May you and yours enjoy all the very best that life has to offer. - Terri at the Drake's Nest in Ossineke, MI

ReplyDeleteHey Naomi, love the thimbles, would go great with my few!!! Happy sorting and moving. Hope to see you soon.
ReplyDeleteThose are really pretty thimbles! Don't know if you'd ship them all the way to Canada, but I'll leave a comment anyway. I don't even think I have one thimble in my house. :( That's kind of a tragedy for a sewist.
ReplyDeleteHello Naomi,
ReplyDeleteWhile I am sorry that you have decided to give away your beautiful thimbles, I would very much love to have them.
Warm hugs,
Ruthie
